Mary and Martha played such a significant role in helping me during one of my most hopeless moments. It was truly a wonderful place to heal and start over. Everything was so clean and organized, providing a comforting environment that gave me the peace I needed. Their incredible resources were exactly what I needed to get back on my feet. I suggest and recommend Mary and Martha to anyone looking for support in tough times. Thank you, Mary and Martha. Thank you, Stacy. And a special thank you to Heather Root for everything you’ve done. You all have been a blessing to me. Lakisha Pearcey

Me and my children came from an abusive situation while I was pregnant in September of 2023 I had nowhere safe to live or deliver my baby in January or house my two boys, I was distraught. I enlisted the help of safe famalies for children a once client mom friend of mine and they advised me of Mary and Martha house. I called, applied and was walked through the process and when needed the most was accepted into the shelter! After meeting with staff I was given my room and any needs of mine or my children's were met, being self care products diapers and even toys and loving staff to confide in. After a few days of settling in and resting finally unafraid of our surroundings my case manager met with me again and immediately we set out some goals for me to work on to take the next steps in my journey towards secure stable self sufficient living. R first being my mental health and healing. I was skeptical at first because I've had horrible experiences with staff in a shelter in brookville but this shelter was completely different. As long as I did what was necessary of me to take control of me and my children's livelihood like try to place them in daycare answer emails and communicate with community resources and my case managers and get up and take my kids to Drs and school and utilize bus when I had to, then the shelter gave me the rest. They gave me referral for daycare and places to call for for counseling services. They gave me bus passes and a private space and bathroom and a home and kitchen to utilize and take care of like it was my own. Of course it's always rough in a shelter when you have women and children with moods and characteristics that don't mesh but if you keep to yourself and minded it's easy to avoid unnecessary happenings and some people refuse to do house chores or clean up after themselves but that's inevitable anywhere because some people didn't or appreciate what they've been given. The building itself is beautiful and very up to date including the playground out back. The staff and maintenance team and even the electric or emergency workers and class instructors they have come periodically are very professional caring and part of making the experience safe and continuing. Some people say they want change in their lives but if you aren't willing to get up and make appointments and do the work no one can hand you any tools or help you. But if you where at Mary and Martha house and you keep your areas clean and clean up after you and your kids and you take care of making calls setting appointments working at your goals and communication with staff then they will hand you everthing else IE: counsel, support, life classes, help with food, access to church and prayer, a computer room for training and internet access, buss passes, a wonderful home with all amenities, case planning, housing referrals, daycare info, clothes personal care needs even holiday celebration. No one can fail here unless they just plain dont want to stand up and work at it i was pregnant and had nothing staff helped me get my kids in daycare have my baby, take care of my mental health and a few surgeries i needed scheduled and network to move on into housing successfully with ties to furniture and job training when I'm ready. my stay was almost a year coming in in october 2023 and leaving successfully with a car and me and my kids needs met to a point where we are ok now in the end of 06/2024. Any problem I've ever had at this shelter was because of housemates not being accountable never because of staff. From owner down to maintenance guys the staff all has empathy and understanding and will fight for you as long as you do.we felt like family and were treated as such.this place and its staff will always have a huuuuge positive nark on me and my kida journey and positive outlook on life when it gets rough.

I can’t say enough AMAZING things about the people that work for Mary and Martha House. They have helped myself and my girls through one of the hardest times of our lives. They’ve provided resources to show me how to become financially stable in order to gain my independence again. I am now almost a year into being back on my own and I couldn’t have done it without their guidance and support! You all are the greatest! Continue to change the lives of these families as you have done an awesome job for mine.
