This is not review out of anger; Just an honest assessment of what I received. Twice I applied for services through Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. I got a phone call after the first assuring me I qualified for their services but there was no follow through. I was not helped beyond that phone call. The next application was a year later, regarding the same issue I had previously asked for help with. That application resulted in a phone call and as assurance I qualified for their services. Nothing ever came of it other than a phone call. I have a genuine issue, I need genuine help. What I received was two consecutive brush-offs. The same lawyer called me both times that amounted to nothing but time wasted. You would be better off going in debt to find actual legal assistance than get involved with a company that uses Free Legal Aid to Veterans as a way to gain publicity. Lone Star Legal Aid is more of a gimmick than an actual resource for those in need.

Applied a couple weeks ago and finally got a phone call to continue their application process. Clearly showing I lacked understanding and knowledge, coupled with the terrible systematic approach they take towards potential clients, they refused to offer anything and hung up. They lack the human element to treat anyone like a person and understand their situation to the most basic fundamentals. Had they bothered, they would know I'm on the spectrum, bipolar and among other conditions. Furthermore, they wouldn't even look into the case to any degree before assaulting me with their impersonal approach to my situation.

It appears impossible to leave a message for them. Their phone system doesn’t seem to be working. I called on Monday @ 11:30 and the message says hours are M-F from 08:00-5pm but nobody ever answers.
