During the June 4th, 2025 Rentwise class, the instructor used a slur as a joke. I found it to be offensive and jarring to hear someone use such a word in this day and age. It distressed me so much it's all I could think about all weekend and I did not want to return to the next class. I reported it in person on June 9th 2025. I received an apology letter from the head of the Rentwise Network, stating they use volunteers to teach the class & the issue had been addressed but they did not care enough to spell my last name correctly so take that for what it is worth. I completed the class online June 17th 2025 & I have not heard anything from them since. I hope others will have a better experience than I did.

Awesome organization that helps people find housing, however, they are operated by the government, so it takes a lot of paperwork, patience, understanding and resilience. You have to apply for housing way in advance of needing it, make sure that you have all information related to your income and expenditures. You will eventually get on the waiting list for housing after inquiry... you'll wait a long time. Eventually you will get a letter saying that you have an appointment at time you will need to attend or forfeit housing help. they supply the list of info you need to bring to appt. if you do not comply, you will not get housing help, and you might lose ability to get housing help if you do not comply with everything they require. Once you get the appointment, there is a interview that is not fun, you will find exasperation, no caring or empathy or patience or understanding, just the requirements, and emphasis on getting everything exactly the way they require, all of your information also making sure that you sign every document with no mistakes, OR ELSE possibly perjury, possibly a fine possibly jail time. After your interview, you eventually get on the waiting list to go to a class that you have to attend, there is also another waiting period. Sometimes it can take up to a year or more to get through the process. Never ever have I realized how wonderful it is to have housing, and how hard it is to obtain it if you're low income, if you are disabled, if you don't comply with the red tape. good luck 🤞

Been with LHA 3 years and only complaint is maintenance request. Usually been super fast to respond... been 2 weeks+ on my current tickets with no response on 1 and no follow through on the other.
