Nina Agront rated 5 a year ago Yes, some people are rude (including staff and/or residents) and yes they have strict rules. But they are not hard to follow. If you need help, you have to obey like a normal and responsible human being. If things aren't going good, you can always complain or report and it will be taking care of. One thing I'm going to tell y'all, they know and can sense the people who really care, that really wants to get out & do something for themselves. The staff tries really hard to help everyone, but those that get kicked out or whatever, is because they really don't care. You also need to be willing to help yourself. I stayed here for like almost 5 months (back in 2018) and sometimes I miss it! this is because everyone in there were part of me, my life and journey. They helped me a lot! I immediately went out looking for jobs and had found a very good one at a bank so I was able to save up few thousands and left. I had support, a roof over my daughter's head and food! I spent important days here like my daughters and my bday, thanksgiving and was finishing my bachelor's degree as well. I am so thankful!!!! I was able to leave my abusive relationship of over 5 yrs and become independent. Till this day I am still single, not depending on anyone especially no men (Thank you God), loving and enjoying myself, doing everything I can to be a better person every day to make sure my daughter is healthy, safe and happy. I'm also pursuing my master's degree and finally found the job of my dreams. It takes faith; willingness, hard work, patience and persistence. Thank you Jesus and thank you Kendall County Women's Shelter. |
Kim Kimberly rated 1 4 years ago Shelter nice but some staff need some training and very rude. If you express yourself all they can say is call someone and maybe they have some compassion!!! Wow i was totally shocked and like wow!! |
Sebastian rated 1 5 years ago somewhat racist predominantly white facility. I was told by the counselor that she would never live in Boerne being a black woman and i am 2 races one including black. I admittedly broke a rule and was asked to leave, however this is not why i am posting a review. i was told racial slurs in my bedroom because i clogged the toilet not being used to country/industrial living i flushed a tampon down the toilet as i have done for over 20 years and it broke the entire plumbing system which required a technician to come out (lol). Most racism came from the clients not so much the staff, although the lady in the office in the front had a cold personality. however i was treated very differently because i was not white i feel like. i noticed the same treatment with a hawaiian lady who was there. Horrible if you dont have a car as you must trek miles to the nearest convenience store or anything for that matter. not modernized as far as plumbing. I will say Taylor and another lady in the office (younger girl who was a domestic violence victim herself) were awesome, but i wouldnt recommend it. The building is beautiful but the staff needs more work, they need more compassionate people who may have not been as privileged. i dunno, just a thought |
