worth whiteside rated 1 3 years ago I had to give one star in order to get this review posted but in fact would give minus stars if I could . DO NOT USE THIS CHARITY. They are unprofessional and unreliable . I scheduled a bed pick up one week in advance and was moving out of my apartment . They confirmed pick up date , so my movers came to move my belongings out the day prior . All that was left in the apartment was the bed. On the scheduled day, I was there all day and evening and spoke with their person twice . He assured me I was on their list . At 430 he said they would be there in an hour . 2 hours later I e mailed as it is impossible to ever reach someone at their number as it always goes to voicemail and it is always full. No one ever showed. I was there until 730 waiting . No one has ever contacted me and I have sent multiple mails and tried many times to call.
Because of their irresponsibility , I had to hire a moving company to take the bed to Houston Furniture Bank . It was too late to have another charity pick it up. It cost me $400.
This group does not deserve to have a charity destination and it should be taken away . They are the worst . |
Susan Holland rated 1 3 years ago Do not fill out the form for Helping Hands Charity and do not call this company! It is a waste of your time. I set up a charity donation and pick up at my house. I called two different phone numbers (listed on their listings and web site). I called 3 times...and all times, I could not leave a message because the "mail box was full", and this was over a 2 week period. I received an automatic email from them when I first placed the charity donation pick up. I emailed them 3 or 4 times, to tell them they had their dates wrong. They said they would pick up on Monday, May 21, 2019. I tried to contact them by email and phone, to let them know that Monday was May 20th, (not the 21st), and Tuesday was May 21st; and asked which date was it? I just got the same email with the wrong date. On the original form, I asked for them to call 30 minutes before arriving. Just in case someone showed up; my husband and I waited for them on Monday, and also on Tuesday, but, just as I suspected, no one showed up, no one called, no one emailed. I believe this company is a fraud. The Better Business Bureau also states that they do not return their calls.
Do not waste your time with this company! Call Salvation Army.
P.S. Helping Hands Charity does not deserve even 1 star; it should be NO STARS, but I cannot post it without giving 1 star; (Google please fix this). |
Gail Tarsinos rated 1 3 years ago There is no experience. They don't answer phone and voice mailbox full. Why bother setting up website. Probably not a real business. |
Lisa Ross rated 5 3 years ago I wanted to donate and needed my items picked up relatively quickly, including a large sofa. I scheduled the pick up online Tues and they were scheduled to come on Sat. After scheduling online I then decided to google and found these reviews for the charity. Needless to say I was not optimistic they would show up. But Sat came and John called to inform me they could not come due to all the rain (I understood). He confirmed they would come the next day (Sunday, Mother's Day no less). Sunday morning John called me again to confirm they would be here, probably between 10-11 am. By 11 am the truck did indeed pull up, all items loaded from the driveway and receipt left on my door. My experience was excellent and wanted to share. |
Samantha Rae Krebsbach rated 1 3 years ago Like many other reviewers, I too was ghosted by these incompetent individuals. Find another charity. I recommend the Archdiocese of Houston/Galveston St. Vincent de Paul.
I found Houston helping hands via Google and requested a pickup time on their website. I received an automated email reply and figured their driver would call 30 minutes before they arrived, like I requested. I scheduled the delivery date for my new furniture the same day, thinking I could arrange everything to be a smooth transition. On the day of pickup, I called the number listed on their donation pickup page. Not only did it go straight to voicemail, but the voicemail box was full and I could not leave a message. Next I pulled up their business listing on Google and called that number. Twice. During their proclaimed business hours (stated in the voicemail message) of 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday. No answer, and it went to voicemail. I left messages both times. Still no response.
I emailed the St. Vincent de Paul organization for the houston archdiocese and they got back to me outside of standard business hours and worked with me to schedule a time. Avoid Houston Helping Hands. They're incompetent and apparently are unlikely to use your donations efficiently. |
