Advocate Change rated 5 2 weeks ago I've been very pleased with the work this organization does within the community, helping victims of family violence find their voices again. |
Dallas Zapper rated 1 6 months ago If you want to completely feel dismissed and forgotten you are in the right place! They offer a variety of services here so you can fall though the cracks. Iv spoken with an advocate, a counselor and tried taking classes here only to be completely ghosted. My complaints of lack of communication from staff members have been completely dismissed. This should be a safe place for people who are in a vulnerable state the last thing some one needs is to be FORGOTTEN in that state. Very unprofessional they do not Care about you or your feelings! I really hope that someone with worse state then me aren’t getting this type of treatment because that could be so dangerous to some one’s mental wellbeing. VERY DISAPPOINTING! |
Dess Paige rated 3 7 months ago Listen, it's not all good or bad. Reviews may not mean much to some people, to many ppl dealing with these situations it will mean something. Please hear me out.
Honestly I loved this shelter, it's a home vibe but with different personalities clashing under one roof. (Like any shelter) this shelter and the CIS, ADVOCATES and RESIDENTS here helped me grow. I stayed for 5 months almost 6.. I got EHV through the help of this shelter the day that we got exited. I will say, how this shelter exited my daughter and I was insane.... I was friends with everybody except for one woman and her two kids that bullied my child and I. I reported it every day and even others who worked here saw it EVERYONE saw it... The bullying went from shelter, to bus and then school. Nobody did anything until it was too late. I loved Elena but she made the wrong decision. She kicked me and my 6 year old out after all the terrible things a certain resident and their kids did to us. My main concern about the program is how they exited us stating that there was "too much drama" so we had to leave. Next time please make sure to factually explain it to the family you are exiting. I hope you all learn from this and never let someone go through what my daughter and I went through. Shout out to Ariana, Myrna, Will, Emily, Sierra, Emma, Rebecca, Marine, Adam, Justin, Grace( child counselor)and some of the residents who will not be named. My heart is full and very hurt . I wish you all the best. Thank you for this opportunity but you can't let this stuff slide anymore. |
Kimberly Zacha rated 5 2 years ago There are a variety of services offered here: counseling, group counseling, legal clinics, access to a domestic violence shelter/home, a food pantry, and a monthly gift certificate to their thrift shop in Denton.
Their food pantry has increased substantially over the years. It's not rare for the pantry to be packed so full that there are cases of food stacked 3 feet high near the pantry, or to see boxes of snack items in the lobby free for whomever wants them. They do limit the amount of items you can take from the food pantry to 2 bags per visit. The best part about the food pantry is that you decide what goes in your bags. The majority of donations come from stores' overstock, or damaged containers, and it's all pretty much shelf items (boxes, bags, bottles, and cans.) Using the pantry is a great way to supplement your food budget, get items that you can't afford, and/or try items for the 1st time. Although the supply tends to be limited, there is formula, and other baby essentials in the pantry. On occasion there are winter hats/gloves, new towels, new shoes, toiletries, and even makeup.
They even have signup sheets for the makings of holiday meals, and an "Angel tree" so families don't have to miss out on celebrating because of an abusive situation.
The staff is very friendly, and courteous. They seem to truly care about their clients. This is definitely the place to go to get help if you're in any sort of abusive relationship (not just domestic violence). They'll help you through the chaos, until you can find the light at the end of the tunnel. They'll hold your hand, metaphorically speaking, as long as you need.
There isn't a charge for any of there services. There are volunteers, and residents/interns at this office. |
heaven martin rated 1 3 years ago I was court-ordered to attend these classes and I have been trying to get through to these people for the last month. No one ever answers the phone when you tell them your schedule they don't care you say you were concerned a they still call you on those days while you're at work and then they try to set up your appointments on your work days cuz they don't care. worst system I have ever worked with. |
