I'm sorry, but as a traumatized woman out here alone, I felt like Oliyana, A screener, asked me very suspicious questions. I was also offended as a United States born citizen, when she asked me if I am an immigrant. She also told me not to mention the fact that I am being stalked, that was odd.
Part of a full recovery from abuse includes honesty and transparency. She should know this much working at the Clackamas women's Services for women in crisis. I am concerned for this woman's qualifications for the job, and her alterior motives.
Not only did she whisper during her questioning, but I had to ask her to please speak up to hear her. She was inquisitive of how I survived the streets, and it was inappropriate to ask me.
After 30 min of her interrogation, I mean screening, I had to ask her to please wrap it up. She had no awareness of my time.
She called me back from a different number, after hours, a week later, out of nowhere to ask more questions, she did not even complete my application. My experience with her was horrific. Who does this strange girl really work for? I wonder. I definitely did not feel safe sharing information with her.

You know….. first I used the chat feature and it seemed ok. I missed a phone call from them, my assigned advocate. I called four times. The person assigned to me never called me back. I did speak to someone on the weekend. I explained my situation, I do not have children under age of 18 though - I was informed that they had zero programs for relocation assistance to anyone without children under the age of 18. The money I would get from a job would help me find a way to relocate. Excellent. So my takeaway is that there is a great amount of discrimination in the domestic violence assistance world for women with no children. We don’t need the help. I mean, we outta be self sufficient. And for the record I will be fine. I hope so anyway……but because it’s me who will get me through this. I’m old right? So I’ve got this. Very disheartening

Clackamas Women's Services turned me and my two small daughters away when we were desperlately trying to escape our abuser. We were told that because he lived in Clackamas county, we could not stay in their shelter for safety reasons. So who are you helping if not the women who live Clackamas County with their abusers? I guess what I'm trying to understand is how your organization can morally accept funding from the state or donations meant to help our most vulnerable women and children, while turning away your most vulnerable women and children. I made it very clear to the intake worker that I was currently his live in aide and was being beaten with various objects and my kids were being emotionally degraded and screamed at. Our abuser is mobile and cannot commute because of health reasons, which I also made very clear to the intake worker. I do not recommend Clackamas Women's Services to anyone who lives in the county and actually needs help out of an abusive situation.
**EDIT** Making this edit since you want to comment with half an apology. This was in the beginning of February that we applied, pre-COVID. And we qualified, we were told we qualified from your intake worker and that there was one available spot at the shelter. Her words verbatim were "I'm positive you qualify, I just need to get my supervisor's approval." Then she called us back and said nevermind because we lived with our abuser in Clackamas County. Please, explain to me and help me understand how that disqualifies me to stay at your domestic violence shelter. Thanks for the apology, but it doesn't make sense and it doesn't help my family stay safe.
