I Used To Be A Resident At This Shelter . & All I Can Say Is, If You Need Help With Childcare, & Free Meals Everyday, & Free Water Etc, Then This Is The Place For You & Your Baby . But Don't Expect Anybody Here To Have Compassion For You, Or What You're Going Through . They're Only Nice When You First Get In . The Residents Are Messy & Are Always Trying To Get Involved In Other's Lives . This Is A Good Shelter, But Not A Good Program . I Was Discharged With My 2-Month Old For Frivolous Reasons .... No Reason To Put A Young Mother Out On The Street With Her Child . But I Digress . Anyone Who Reads This & Needs A Place To Stay, By All Means, See If They Have Availability . But You'd Just Have To Find Out What It's Really Like For Yourself .

I would highly recommend the City of Refuge for anyone interested in the programs that they offer or for general volunteer opportunities! I recently had the pleasure of working with Katie at City of Refuge to coordinate a service opportunity for a team at my work and could not be more pleased with the experience. Katie was extremely responsive while coordinating the event, gave an excellent tour of the facilities, and then was very hands-on with us during the actual service project. I seriously do not know how she does it all! For the actual service project, out team painted a room they were flipping, assembling furniture, and more. There's always plenty to do, so check out their website for more info!

Wow! Wow! Wow! I volunteered here through our Google Serve program. It was an honor for me to be able to contribute to the amazing work being done for those in need and the surrounding community. They have so many programs in place ( room & board, education for parents and children, trade job training, etc..). What blew me away was how much focus was placed on ensuring each program and all efforts were/are focused on ensuring the people being helped keep their dignity.
