This housing office members besides the front desk doesn’t seem to want to work. I turned in my paperwork back on the 3rd of August and still no reply’s no assistance, no answering of calls or emails. If these folks don’t want to work, PLEASE get people in there that do. If there is an employee out for a length of time there should be others helping with their case loads. This agency JUST DON’T! That’s with everything!

So today I called to speak with the portability officer by the name of Andrea. I do not know why but she was so negative towards me. I had questions and every single question I asked she shot me down! She told me that she would recommend I apply with Plano housing. She asked where I wanted to live and I said “I am thinking Plano” I did not say definitely! I don’t know if she was overwhelmed with her workload but she did not want to help me at all! I am new to all of this and I just want someone to help me. She made me feel so small after that call. I feel like giving up with the process now

The front desk individuals are polite by phone and in person. They are professional and try to help. The Case worker assigned to me was not responsive at all. I understand work loads can be heavy and maybe even time consuming, however, there should be time set aside to answer emails and return calls. When I did catch her by phone which was only once, she was unpleasant. It’s already stressful trying to locate a home that accepts this type of assistance. There is a lack of housing/landlords who participate in the program. It’s seems it’s not based on the stereotype placed on section-8 participants but rather the landlords can not afford to lower the rent amounts to fit the programs price standards. Also, if the paperwork says 10-15 business “working” days for an inspection, why does it take a month for an inspection? It should not take a month. The average month has 20 working days. This process should be reviewed. There is a lack of transparency when it comes to this. If voucher holders spent the time searching for a participating landlord or community/property/unit with availability, working a another job (which is unlikely when you have small children or a disability) no assistance would be needed. The program is appreciated as it helps low-income or fixed income citizens with safe and affordable housing.
