I would RATE The Center for Success and Independence NO STARS if it would let me. They knew what they were getting when we sent our Son here, they had all his medical records, him running away, and behavioral problems, Their exacts words were there’s nothing we haven’t seen, nor haven’t handled. I was confident they would be a good fit for our son. Wrong, not even 6 days later they called and stated they were discharging him for attempting to run away and that I must come get him. They got a copay and charged us and then discharged him. I was told by Jessica Ruiz and Antonio Brinkley that we would get our $1,000 copay back. They only refunded me $212. I was even told by Jessica that our son didn’t comply with their therapy or program at all. So what are they charging us for. Sounds like fraud to me. If they do rite by their word and return my $1000 copay then I’ll update this review. Until then, if you have a troubled teen think twice before sending them here. Not every teen or kid is the same and they require different treatment well mine never saw a psychiatrist the 6.5 days he was there nor did I ever get a phone call from son. It cost us a lot of money to have him transported by an ambulance to their facility and not to mention we live 5 hours away in Louisiana. They take advantage of Parents and tell you what you wanna hear and then bill the insurance and what they promised about helping him get his medication regulated and see a psychiatrist never happened. They will hear from my lawyer and the insurance company for fraud since nothing was done. My biggest problem is don’t tell someone you’re going to return the copay in full because nothing was done because my son didn’t comply.

I would rate this place zero stars if it were an option. I was a patient here back when I was a junior in high school, 3 years later and all I have is hate for this place and the abusive staff members. There were some good people there but the majority weren’t. The center was very unsanitary, there was a blood spatter on the ceiling at one point that they did nothing about when I asked. I stayed for 3 months and I don’t remember much of it because I tried my hardest to shut it all out. After leaving, I was back into drugs. It took a school named archway academy in houston to show me how my life mattered. I went to archway my senior year, great school. Would recommend over TCSI any day. As a minor I figured that maybe this was normal for a rehab center and only really started to pick up on the abuse of power after I went to other facilities like Mallard rehab and lavender sober living both owned by Taylor recovery. These places were top notch great places with loving staff and other patients. If you are looking to scare your kid into not using or not being depressed then this is the place to go. When I was there drugs got in anyways. If you are a kid whose folks are sending you here, show them this review along with all the other negative reviews. And know that your parents love you and even tho idk you, that I love you too.

I went through the center the 1st time when I was 13, the 2nd when I was 15. I'm now 33. I have become a successful adult despite the center and reached out to ask to mentor or volunteer more than once with no response because I wanted to do so much differently than what I was given. My own daughter needed help and was referred to the center and never heard back. The only good from this place is my 20 year friendships with Larry, Sarah, Melissa and many others. We all become something, but this place told our families we would be nothing. I have 2 degrees now. A beautiful 2 story, 4k sq foot home. I take care of my daughter by myself, I travel the world and the father who wrote me off because of this place...had a stroke last year and needed me....so he moved into MY home where I take care of him. Don't let this place sell you short. You are not what they make you out to be. You can and will accomplish so much more. Robert and Mary Lou do not have the final say on your life...f' them and the box they put you in. Accomplish so much more. I believe in you. I have been in your shoes and it gets better. My parents were told to stop contact with me for months as a pre-teen. They were told to write horrible letters to me that 20 years later I still have. This place is not helpful. It destroys families and breaks teens hearts and souls. There is no healing here.

I went here and I loved it. I’m still best friends with the girl I came in with and the staff was so sweet towards me let me tell you I’m a dental assistant now and I’m no longer the “bad kid” my parents thought I was going to turn into. I think about this place a lot and even though in the moment I felt like it wasn’t helping in the end it was the best inpatient therapy I had. I miss all of the staff and the man who ran the whole place!

My daughter suffers from substance abuse. She is at a very dangerous point in her addiction. She has strong cravings and she will go to any length to get high. This includes taking over the counter drugs in excess. We were approved by the center for intake 11/28/22 at 11am. My wife was blindsided by a nurse by the name of Sam claiming she couldn’t admit our daughter because she was insulin dependent which she is not according to her endocrinologist and the physician at her previous mental health facility. They made claims about health safety that didn’t make any sense stating that because she needed to check her sugars as needed that they couldn’t facilitate that. This was due to the fact that they don’t have 24/7 nursing staff. We were required to get a letter from endocrinology stating that she wasn’t insulin dependent and that she didn’t need her sugars checked every 4 hours. When we got the letter and presented it. she proceeded to pick it apart and require more ridiculous terms for my daughter to be admitted. Nurse Sam and the entire administration there is rude, dishonest, and willing to risk the welfare of your sick child for trivial issues. They claimed that the CEO was supporting this as well. We literally had two doctors and a nurse practitioner tell this nurse Sam that my daughter was prescribed metformin. Still the nurse did not budge. This facility is unethical because of their trash administration and lead nurse acting as a gatekeeper and making it impossible for someone to get help that actually needs it. Shut this place down. Call CPS and report them. Report them to your insurance so they get shut down and can’t cause any more families stress and heartache. Make sure and mention Nurse Sam, Holly, the intake person that wasted our time and Robert Woods the CEO that supports this type of unethical and unprofessional behavior.
