The staff treats people with real dignity, respect, and compassion, not judgment. They meet you where you are and genuinely care about helping you rebuild your life, not just survive the night. One thing that’s important to understand is that you can lead people to water, but you can’t make them drink. The Mission provides the tools, guidance, and opportunities for change — what someone does with that help is ultimately up to them. And like anywhere you go, there will always be a few bad eggs, but that does not define the place or the people who work tirelessly there. From the meals to the support services, everything is done with intention and heart. You can feel that this mission is rooted in faith, hope, and action. They don’t just talk about helping people — they do it, every day. Albany City Mission gave me a sense of safety, structure, and encouragement when I needed it most. They remind you that you still matter, that your life still has purpose, and that change is possible. I’m deeply grateful for this place and the people who make it run. I live near the mission and I have helped so many people eat and get out there helped them with clothes and helped them into better places just got a girl out of there the other day after they kicked her out after they had call 911 cuz she passed out in chapel she’s pregnant n all they let the men do what they want they get later times they treat the women so bad over there it’s sad they choose who they nice to and who they not nice too and I will continue help and feed people cause if you truely in it to help people then help them my five year old said she wants build n have her own homeless shelter when she older I hope she keeps that mindset I feel like if your gonna run a homeless shelter make sure u hire or have workers that care well have people running place who don’t care about anyone i Avocet for many I have even had someone curse me out on the phone and said they do not need to speak to the (women’s name ) Avocet hung up and said as long as I try ask them questions they will not speak to the homeless person in question but hey allow them drunk men to do what they want they out side smoking getting high off crack dope n more 24.7 at the gas station but tried kick a girl out once for even smelling like weed when it’s legal and she has a medical card that’s illegal to kick someone out for taking they meds by law it’s terrible how they treat people don’t get into this line work or own this type company or property if you don’t truly wanna help someone even if they believe in God or not it’s just sad how they treat people over there especially during the cold whether

Easy process to get in. They have beds and mats. I stayed here and got in Breakfast was good and hot. They let you stay during the day in the chapel in chairs. 3 meals a day thank you capital rescue mission
