I’ve been going to Battle Creek for about nine years now, which in church years is basically forever. Back when I was younger, I was in the music industry — solo artist, then started a band called Red Rain. And no, not the current band called Red Rain. I’m talking about the original Red Rain. Think the Coke Classic of Red Rain.
Now, let’s get real. I was at rock bottom — lost everything, especially my kids. When I finally got them back, the children’s church embraced them like they were VIP guests at Heaven’s daycare. Meanwhile, Pastor Alex (who doesn’t know me and probably never will) somehow preached like he was reading my diary. I don’t put pastors on pedestals, but this guy? One of the greatest teachers I’ve ever sat under. He speaks like you’re the only one in the room, which is both comforting and slightly creepy, but mostly comforting.
Kidding pastor.
I’ve seen false teachings, dangerous teachings, and yes, I’ve even taught some errors myself (oops). But here, the foundation is solid. I sit quietly, burnt out, soaking it in like a spiritual sponge. The real joy? Watching my daughters grow in the Word and in fellowship. That’s priceless.
A word to Parents , please — some of your kids are showing up dressed like they’re auditioning for America’s Next Top Temptation. I’d hate to be a teenage boy trying to focus on Jesus while Becky’s outfit screams “Vegas.” Church isn’t a runway, folks. Please use wisdom and understand your a parent not a friend.
Battle Creek is the real deal. Solid teaching, solid foundation, and a pastor who somehow makes you feel like the sermon was ghostwritten for your life. Just… maybe install a dress code on Wednesdays before someone mistakes youth group for a fashion show.

We've been going here for a year now. I'm heartbroken, however. Both of my daughters came to accept Jesus here. Both made the decision to be baptized. Both still study daily and do still pray daily. My oldest, however, no longer wants to attend die to the student group kids and how she was treated my a couple of girls. She's been church hurt before, but this time really messed her up. People wonder why Christians are walking away from the church atmosphere altogether. I don't know what to do or where to go worth it from here. The wealth this group of girls has is outrageous and our family has been homeless through the Covid outbreak. We are no longer in that situation, thank God, but our situation is still not one of financial wealth and the able-ism that comes with it might be the problem in this situation. I believe that the church is truly trying to do good for the community and around the world, but the leaders have lost touch with the reality of financial problems that plague those who can't afford a latte in the morning or even a car or bus pass.

This church has changed my life in so many ways! The people are friendly and would do anything for anyone. Pastor Alex is an amazing pastor who teachers facts straight from the Bible. The campus pastors are amazing as well and the worship is my favorite! My son loves children's church and walks away every Sunday learning something new. The security is top notch and I’m confident knowing my son is safe while I’m in service. Love my church!!!
