Robby Carson rated 3 9 months ago After bad experiences with my local YWCA, I came here to leave a good review because my experiences have been generally very good here. However, I cannot leave 5 stars after seeing a survivor comment in their review, "Was hopeful that I was finally going to process and sort some things and obtain a normal life. I was told after intake that I would be better with a provider outside of Barcc because of my history with drinking."
Denying services to a survivor due to having a history of addiction is disability discrimination. After my positive experiences I am disappointed to see this. |
Sarina Charles rated 1 a year ago i’m not sure what exactly they are suppose to be helping with other than providing you with a short term therapist. i’ve been calling since last week and had their help applying for emergency rental assistance with raft due to needing to leave my current living circumstances because i have a stalker. I was reassured that they could help me apply for moving AND rental assistance and to call if i had any questions or concerns because they were there to help guide me through the process. I haven’t heard back from them despite leaving voicemails and calling multiple times telling them it’s an emergency and I keep being told we’ll put in a request to have a case manager get back to you in a few days (mind you this is a time sensitive emergency). Called Raft to explain to them that I’m in an emergency housing situation and they told me to contact BARCC so someone could call on my behalf and possibly speed up the process. I still haven’t heard back from anyone all day despite repeatedly telling them it’s an emergency and i’ve seen the person I have a restraining order against, around my neighborhood despite them being ordered to stay away. the police are no help and it feels like BARCC isn’t either. I wish instead of using language to make it seem like your safety is a priority to them, they were honest and said that they can help when it is convenient for them. I truly hope this man doesn’t come back and harm me before they get back to me |
Melissa bussone rated 1 3 years ago everybody was great here except for the woman that was assigned mycase who just yelled and screamed at me and then told me why don't I go get help from the Department of mental Health and I never wanted to come back because she made me feel so victimized and everything was my fault type of person! I'm hoping that one day she will get fired from here because she's definitely one of those types of people that intentionally treat you badly so she doesn't have to do her job! she makes you feel so horrible and she yells and screams at you and then calls so you will never come back! |

Rachel Marie rated 1 6 years ago In all honesty it took me months to be able to call and make an appointment to get some help. I was told to call if my trauma became too much to handle on my own. Was hopeful that I was finally going to process and sort some things and obtain a normal life. I was told after intake that I would be better with a provider outside of Barcc because of my history with drinking. I cannot go to an outside provider due to insurance and finances. To anyone going to get services at BARCC, please be careful not to divulge too much information, even if it is coping mechanisms/struggles you face because of your trauma. I finally felt I was going to speak and process what happened to me and was excited about the hope of feeling better and managing symptoms. Feeling pretty horrible, empty and helpless at this point.
The staff I did meet with was very nice and I understand the decision not to connect me with further help through Barcc was not soley her decision. I am writing this review only so that someone contemplating getting services can be mindful to keep their information to a minimum so that they can actually receive help and not have this experience. |
