This place is about money and not the girls they are helping. At the end of EVERY day you will constantly fear being kicked out with no place to go. And they will cold heartedly kick you out for any simple mistake if they dislike you for any reason. There are other resources available! This place will suck the life out of you even when you do everything their way. It changed drastically from when I arrived to when I left. Staff turnover is insane. And client turnovers are even worse.

I lived at AMH for a solid 8 months between 4-20-19 till 12-26-2019. During my stay I had experienced both ups and downs emotionally while being apart of their program, but I would have to say that the negative drastically overshadowed the positive aspects of living in AMH’s Program. When I first moved in everything seemed to be positive and easy-going, even though it was difficult to feel excepted with not only the residents but also the staff. AMH’s staff has a high turnover rate. At one point a resident’s daughter had fallen and hurt her self, needing immediate attention and we did not have staff available in our house to be able to give that immediate, direct care for her daughter. There were times where I personally had to pay for a Lyft ride for myself and another resident who worked with me just to be able to make it home in time to pick up our children before 6 PM. If we did not in fact pick up our children before 6 PM we had to pay a dollar for every minute after 6 PM that we were unable to pick them up. Now mind you we signed a contract before moving in agreeing to the terms and conditions on the rules while living there, and one of those being that we as residents were required to focus on work and school and not spending our money on anything except for bills i.e. phone bills. I was told before ordering every Lyft ride that I would be refunded for the money that was spent for the rides home, which I never received. In the terms and conditions there was also a part where I am supposed to be present if any of my personal belongings were to be gone through by staff, which I was not present for the three times that all of my personal belongings and toiletries had been gone through. Two other residents and myself were pulled to the side and basically bullied into not shutting out a new resident, who was in fact very manipulative and very difficult to live with. She lied on every account to staff and the owner and operator Mrs. Kristy. This same client physically abused her child within five days after her daughter was born. After the fact AMH was very quick to not only fire all of their staff who was present during this incident, but also “cleaned slate” by finding any and every reason to kick out the residents who were currently living at AMH. The reasoning for my discharge was the father of my child came to campus to pick both myself and my daughter up for visitation, which every staff member knew about and I had filled out a “day pass“ to be able to go on this visitation. They have rules centered around not allowing residents who pay for their phone bills to be able to use their phone whenever they would like. I was unable to see my family who came to campus on multiple accounts who were told before I moved in that they could come and visit me on campus whenever they liked. My mother was not even able to drop off National Geographic magazines and knitting supplies. They get hundreds of thousands in donations every year to be able to support this program not including all of the food, clothes, bedding, and furniture which sits in a warehouse on campus exposed to the elements and rodents who have destroyed practically everything in said warehouse. Staff members would talk very poorly about other residents to other residents. When it comes to living environments it was very toxic because there was a lot of “she said she said” rather than viewing video surveillance footage that they have set up in each hallway and every living space except for bedrooms and bathrooms. AMH has very poor managing skills, and have exhibited multiple favoritisms with certain residents. AMH has “helped” those in need only to kicked us out making our situation worse than to begin with. Causing each of us to not only loose our homes with a new child, but also our CAREERS and hurt our schooling opportunities. If I didn’t have my mom near by I would in fact be homeless after this event occurred. There should be a proper investigation on annunciation maternity home! They have abused their “power” and turned it into some sick power trip game.

I lived in this home for near 18 months. It saved me and helped me correct my life and aided me in starting college and staying sober and holding a good job. That was when Jenn Womack was there as my case manager. When she was case managing all the girls, everything was different, it was good, and just. As soon as I nominated Jenn on KVUEs “Pay It Forward” for going above and beyond in her job and she won, the news station came to interview her at AMH. That’s when everything changed. That was 17 months into my live there. After that the owner started slowly putting the her daughter Becky in charge. She had no prior job experience or idea what she was doing. The daycare began to accuse me of neglecting my daughter because I didn’t go fill a prescription the DAY my daughter was prescribed it. The doctor had told me if she didn’t have a fever anymore she didn’t need to take it, and that it was just in case she spiked a fever again. He wrote on a legitimized and signed official script paper stamped from the pediatricians office that she did not need to take the medication and when I showed it to Christy Aaronson the owner, she FORCED me to administer the entire 5 days of medication (that had potential seizures as a side effect if taken when not needed) with a staff member present and told me if I did not give her the medication she would discharge me. After complying to her outrageous demand, she had the daycare accuse me of not keeping my daughter clean and said I was bringing her to daycare in dirty socks, these were socks that had been STAINED black from the playscape outside. I had multiple individuals staff and client alike counter claim the accusation that I would EVER keep my daughter dirty. This was including my roommates, and staff members that defended this, to no avail. A few weeks after the news came, Christy and her daughter Becky chose to remove Jenn from my case. They held a meeting with jenn and I in Christys office, one that I felt was positive and reassuring to my success at AMH. They never notified Jenn or I at this point that she had been removed from my case. Then, Christy demanded another meeting the next day with her, Becky (her daughter), and the daycare teacher but said Jenn would not be there. This meeting had a completely different aspect delivered by all three women, was hateful, cold, and demanded that I comply with any request they ask of me to complete. It was disgusting. To hold one meeting that felt so positive and I was happy to comply to, then remove my case manager and deliver a second meeting that was meant to scare me into living under their forced will, or be left out in the world with my daughter and no home while I was in the middle of completing my degree. I am currently a junior and a concurrent 4.0 student, I have held a very decent job at Austin community college for over two years. I left AMH on my own free will after that final meeting because I knew at that point that they were not interested in my well being or my daughters. They were interested in their own self control and power. That’s not Gods Mission, that’s not Gods Will for women in need that are truly trying to fight for their lives for the betterment of their child’s future. That place is a disgrace to Gods Grace and love. They need to be shown for what they truly are and I hope someone somewhere reads this and it saves them from making the same mistake I did. There are other places. I was accepted into Texas Baptist Children’s Home here in Round Rock immediately upon leaving AMH, and THEY have been exactly what a home should be in the eyes of God’s grace. They love, accept, listen, and aid in learning with my family while holding the highest of expectations to help me succeed. If anyone needs help, it is out there. But Annunciation Maternity Home is not the answer.
