The Amara Legal Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free, trauma-informed legal services to survivors of sex trafficking and individuals who have been harmed by the commercial sex industry in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Through a holistic and racial justice lens, Amara offers legal representation in areas such as family law, post-conviction relief, civil protection orders, and criminal defense, while also connecting clients to supportive services. The organization conducts community trainings to prevent re-victimization, advocates for policy reforms to reduce criminalization, and amplifies the voices of the most marginalized, including Black and transgender women.
