For Every Woman - whats mono

Hi there. Got a question for me?

What's Mono?

Mono, also known as infectious mononucleosis, is a viral infection caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. It's often called the "kissing disease" because the virus is spread through close contact with saliva, such as kissing, sharing drinks or utensils, or coughing or sneezing. Mono is most common in teenagers and young adults, and its symptoms can include fever, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, and a general feeling of being unwell. While most people recover from mono within a few weeks or months, some may experience complications, such as an enlarged spleen, liver inflammation, or anemia. Treatment for mono generally involves rest, drinking plenty of fluids, and taking over-the-counter pain relievers to manage symptoms. If you think you or someone you know might have mono, it's important to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
