I visited the ER at Berkeley Medical Center around 6 in the morning on the 21st of May 2022. I was there because the mental health provider that I was trying to get an appointment through told me to try to get put back on the medicine I was on for my bipolar disorder. After I told the triage nurse that I was depressed and they gave me their little questionnaire that has to with depression. The triage nurse they proceeded to lead me to the room that I was in for the next 3 hours that was all torn up and paint ripped up in it. I was put through test that was not even necessary (blood work, and urine test) which of course racked up the bill that now I currently have. I was coherent and never express suicidal ideology or expressed hallucinations. Also I had someone watch me for a while. Again I was not suicidal. So now I am stuck with a 1100 dollar bill because of the test that were given needlessly and I was not handled with any dignity. And people wonder why I don't like going to doctors in WV if I don't have to. I can't fault the on-call psychiatrist for not prescribing me medication though. I think that he made the right decision based on me not being a patient of anyone in the state.

Had to go to the ER last week for extremely high blood pressure and vomiting. It was busy but I was in a room being treated within an hour!!! I wish I could remember my nurses name bc she was AMAZING!!! I was sick as a dog and they treated me like a person. I had anto nausea meds within the first half hour of being in my room. My regular doctor was closed because the provider had covid and I ran out of my blood pressure medicine. Dr Glass was AMAZING and came in to see me within minutes of me getting into my room. Even after being told by the nurses that he was very busy and may take a while. I was treated with kindness and respect by everyone! My nurse even helped me get my hospital gown on. I felt like a princess!! I had several tests done all of which came back fine. But it was very nice to know my complaints were taken seriously. I will definitely be going back here again if I need medical care. Oh and my nurse got my IV on the first poke. Which NEVER happens with my veins!!! I wish I could remember her name bc she was AWESOME!!!!

My nurse Shirley I believe her name is. She's an older woman but she has been so kind and helpfull to me. I can't explain how much her little adjustments mean to me and how much more comfortable and pleasant my recovery is because of her. I hope they appreciate when they have a gem like that.

My foot needed stiches from a laceration caused by glass. Went to the EMERGENCY and was treated within 5 minutes. RN Tanya brought me to the XRay room. My wife was able to wait in a room for me where the PA Kevin stitched me up. KEVIN patiently and professionally informed me of the procedure and kept me at ease. Nurse Kim put the dressing and fitted me with crutches and out the door I went. Quick and super efficient service. THANKS!

3 times my daughter was brought here for mental health and each visit ended badly. Collectively , the staff seem to only want to assert dominance over patients and their families. No solutions came of our visit, only more problems. To anyone reading this: if u have the option , go somewhere else for better care
